Pilates instructor
About me
My name is Tina Prota and I am a Personal Trainer specializing in Pilates and post-traumatic functional recovery for athletes.
My studies, my personal and professional experiences, and having lived in different countries and cities, have made me aware of the wonder of the human being as an integrated unitary system of body and mind in continuous relationship.
Education and professional experience
In 2011 I graduated with honors from the Faculty of Sports Science at the University of Naples Parthenope, specializing in the Prevention and Treatment of Sports Injuries, with a Master’s thesis on “Analysis and planning of training, performance and rehabilitation of athletes”.
I became a Pilates instructor while still studying at university, taking a training course in Pilates Matwork in 2009.
From 2005 to 2012 I had the great opportunity to work at the “Vivere la Conoscenza” Neurocognitive Rehabilitation studio in Salerno, where I worked on the functional recovery of professional athletes according to the Perfetti method. This experience was crucial in helping me understand the essential relationship between body and mind, on which I have based my work and training in the years that followed, right up to the present day.
In 2012 I moved to Montreal, Canada, where in 2015 I qualified as a Pilates Matwork Instructor at the prestigious Ann McMillan school. I worked in several Pilates studios in the Greater Montreal Area, teaching in Italian and French.
In 2015 I moved to Zurich, Switzerland. In Mies, I continued my Pilates training, obtaining the title of Pilates Reformer Instructor (Pilates with large equipment) again with Ann McMillan, recognized by the international Pilates Method Alliance Federation. In Zurich I taught Pilates Mat and Reformer as a freelancer, in Italian, French and German until 2022, when I moved to Berlin.
My curiosity, the desire to continue learning and the relationships established with other health professionals have enriched my continuing education. Over the years I have participated in conferences and workshops on various aspects of Pilates, on the prevention and post-rehabilitation of pain, and on the relationship between physical exercise, health and well-being.
Therapeutic approach
Pilates Cognitive is a holistic training method that I created, born from the union of my passion for Pilates and my many years of work experience in a Neurocognitive Rehabilitation center.
Joseph Pilates said: “It’s not important what you do, but how you do it”. By using Pilates exercises and making precise and correct movements with the guidance of the instructor, you have the opportunity to “feel” your body. Body awareness creates the basis for loving and taking care of yourself and is built up from the experience of movement.
Training is a process of motor learning due to the activation of cognitive processes such as perception, attention and memory. This activation allows us to have a positive motor experience with the aim of bringing it into our daily lives, creating more and more postural balance and a feeling of general well-being.
My vision
Health is a state of physical and mental well-being.
Each person is made up of a body and a mind that are connected, elements that we cannot separate. Often sedentary work, a hectic lifestyle and illness lead us to dissociate these elements, making us feel that our body is an accessory, which we often only feel through pain. But there is more to it than this: there is much more to discover.
By doing a high quality physical activity in small groups, guided by an experienced professional who corrects positions and movements during the training session, we give ourselves the chance to rediscover our body as light, fluid and harmonious.
The objectives of my work are:
- Improve body awareness
- Increase muscle strength, flexibility and balance
- Improve posture
- Reduce pain and muscle tension
- Prevent and recover from trauma
- Increase control of the abdomen to reduce lower back pain
