Caterina Nicolosi Ganßmann

Psychologist and Psychotherapist

Who I Am

My name is Caterina Nicolosi Ganßmann, clinical psychologist and systemic and trauma therapist. Originally from Italy and now residing in Berlin, I am passionate about accompanying people on their transformational journey, helping them achieve a deep balance between mind, body, and emotions. My approach is the result of an extensive training that integrates several psychotherapeutic schools, such as Gestalt, Jungian Psychoanalysis, and Systemic Therapy, along with innovative methods like EMDR, Ego State Therapy, and Polyvagal Therapy.
I believe that lasting well-being arises from integrated work on all aspects of the human being. Every therapeutic session is an opportunity for authentic connection, where awareness, empathy, and personalized paths are central. I am committed to guiding individuals towards a life that fully reflects their inner balance, awareness, and authenticity.

Education and Professional Experience

I began my training in Gestalt, Psychodrama, and Jungian Psychoanalysis during my clinical psychology studies at the University of La Sapienza in Rome, where I graduated with honors, gaining experience at the Raymond Gledhyll Community for Psychotics. In Germany, I deepened my knowledge of Behavioral Therapy for Children and Adolescents while collaborating with a psychiatric clinic.

  • Since 2009, I have been authorized to practice as a psychologist and psychotherapist with the title of Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie.
  • In 2017, I specialized in Systemic Therapy, Family and Couples Therapy, and Trauma Therapy, acquiring the EMDR method for trauma treatment.
  • In 2017 and 2018, I obtained the PITT method by Luise Reddemann.
  • Since 2020, I have been practicing Ego State Therapy.
  • My approach also integrates sensorimotor and polyvagal therapy, which I use to release emotions stored in the body.
  • Since 2013, I have been offering free meditation courses in Italian.

Therapeutic Approach

I love my work and chose to integrate different therapeutic methodologies, convinced that each one plays a fundamental role in the patient’s growth journey.

My approach is systemic: I explore issues in the context of relationships and social systems, such as family, couples, and groups, to modify dysfunctional dynamics and promote communication. With Gestalt, I focus on the “here and now,” helping patients become aware of their emotions and behaviors.

I integrate Jungian psychoanalysis with trauma therapy and Ego State therapy, which involves exploring the unconscious and identifying and treating the “parts” of the self that arise from traumatic experiences. Each part holds patterns, memories, and emotions that, if not integrated, can generate internal conflicts and dysfunctions. These parts form over time and can represent different ages, such as the inner child or other parts of the self reflecting experiences from any phase of life. The goal is to harmonize these parts, promoting psychological well-being.

I also use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to reprocess traumas, reducing the emotional intensity associated with painful experiences through bilateral stimulation.

Meditation is an additional tool I use to consolidate therapeutic progress and foster self-awareness. I offer separate courses from the therapeutic path to develop present-moment awareness, connect with one’s deepest and most authentic self, and manage stress to improve psychophysical well-being.

Finally, I believe in the effectiveness of group therapy, which, when combined with individual therapy, allows patients to confront their difficulties in a safe environment and receive mutual support. I offer individual, couple, family, and group therapy in Italian, English, and German, both in-person and online, working synergistically with other professionals for the overall well-being of patients.

My Vision

I believe in continuous theoretical and personal growth, and I have developed a multidisciplinary vision of well-being that integrates psychotherapy, neuropsychology, and neuroscience. Only an approach that involves the mind, body, emotions, and inner dimension can foster true balance, improving self-awareness, physical health, and social relationships.

I believe that every therapeutic session is a unique opportunity to stimulate change and growth, fostering authentic connection with one’s deep self and the surrounding world. True evolution comes from the ability to recognize and integrate one’s inner parts, both resources and wounds, to achieve a balance that not only improves the quality of life but also fosters more peaceful and constructive relationships. My vision is to create a safe and welcoming space where the patient can achieve authentic well-being that lasts over time.

Since 2023, together with a colleague specialized in dance-movement therapy, I have been offering a group therapy to address emotional and physical traumas, promoting complete psychophysical well-being.
In June 2024, together with two colleagues, I founded “Il Centro”, an holistic center for psychophysical health located at Ansbacher Str. 45, 10777 Berlin, to offer an integrated approach to patient well-being, collaborating synergistically with other health professionals.
